In March, Lakelands Park Middle School had to shelter-in-place following a threat that was made targeting the building posted on social media.

The bomb threat was reported shortly before 8:45 a.m. on Friday, March 15, and ultimately deemed to be not credible, and there was no threat to students or staff.

According to the Gaithersburg Police Department, detectives have been probing the threat since March, and this week, determined that a 13-year-old posted the threats online.

The teen confessed this week, and detectives referred charges to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for threats of mass violence.
